★The *Doctor Avengers* series is a children’s medical story comic. Through the setting of a children’s general hospital where only young doctors see young patients, it helps children overcome barriers such as fear of doctors and social prejudice. It shows warm empathy for the worries, pains, and hardships that child patients experience. Featuring not fully qualified professionals but resident physicians (interns) still in training as its main characters, the series tells a coming-of-age story of these young doctors learning, agonizing, and growing into capable adults.

★Each volume selects a core medical topic and delivers related information in an engaging comic format. Created by writer Jo Seung-yeon and artist Retto, the comics are sometimes sincere and comforting, sometimes witty and punchy. ## A Bone Fracture and a Stomachache?

Seonghun is riding his bicycle downhill when he crashes into a utility pole. He is rushed to the emergency room with fractured arms and legs. Resident Ugi-nam diagnoses open fractures and prepares for surgery, but then Seonghun suddenly complains of severe abdominal pain, starts vomiting, and loses consciousness.

Jeon Jaesu, the chief of the regional trauma centre who happened to visit the ER, recognizes the gravity of the patient’s condition and performs a re-examination. He discovers a ruptured intestine. The impact against the utility pole during the bicycle accident had bruised Seonghun’s abdomen, causing the intestinal rupture.
Jeon Jaesu delivers emergency treatment by inserting an intravenous catheter and administers painkillers, antipyretics, anti-emetics, stomach medication, and antibiotics together.

After stabilizing the emergency situation, Jeon Jaesu points out Ugi-nam’s oversight. He orders the patient to be transferred, explaining that a patient with multiple fractures plus an intestinal rupture should be treated at the regional trauma centre rather than the emergency room…

## Don’t Worry Too Much.

Fifteen-year-old Song Yeojin visits the gastroenterology outpatient clinic with stomach pain and frequent diarrhoea. When listening to her abdomen with a stethoscope, Yeojin’s bowel sounds are louder and faster than normal. She also has rectal bleeding and fatigue, and her weight has dropped rapidly.

Professor Han Daejang suspects Crohn’s disease and orders multiple tests: blood work, stool examination, X-ray, small-bowel CT enterography, and colonoscopy. Combining all test results, Yeojin is diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.
Crohn’s disease is a condition marked by recurring flare-ups and remissions; patients must take anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics to control inflammation for their entire lives. Immunotherapy injections may also be required, leaving Yeojin’s mother feeling overwhelmed…

He strives to support parents of children struggling from accidents caused by improper first-aid treatment.
