Description
The microfilm "Worth Better," starring Zhang Jie, Zhao Liying, and Wei Daxun, is adapted from the original novel "You Deserve Better" by Xiao Han (the album's text coordinator).
"You Deserve Better" is a youth-themed novel by Xiao Han, revolving around the friendship and growth of three high school students: Wu Tianjing, Lin Yiheng, and Xu Haoran. In their pursuit of "the better," the trio experiences both the depth and conflicts of friendship, while each faces choices related to dreams, family, and the future.
The novel focuses on Wu Tianjing's growth as the main storyline. After a heartbreak, she gradually rediscovers herself and, through her interactions with two friends, learns to think independently and clarify her life goals. Lin Yiheng is a top student who strives tirelessly to change his family's hardships, with his resilience and talent earning admiration. Xu Haoran appears carefree but is actually thoughtful and sensitive, offering silent care and support in their friendship.
The theme of the work centers on "pursuit and letting go": pursuing a better life requires change and effort, but letting go of certain obsessions is also an essential part of growth. The novel portrays the confusion and drive of youth, the preciousness and complexity of friendship, and conveys the positive message that "self-growth and support from others go hand in hand."
