Description
In 1910, Francisco Villa led a rebellion against wealthy landowners in northern Mexico. He worked hard to redistribute the land to the farming poor. In the fall of 1913, Reed was sent to Mexico by Cosmopolitan magazine to cover the Mexican Revolution. For four months, he fought alongside Pancho Villa's Constitutionalist army, defeating federal troops at Torreón and opening the way for their advance to Mexico City.
John Reed reported on the experiences of Villa's gang in a series of outstanding magazine articles that earned him widespread acclaim as a war correspondent. Reed had deep sympathy for the peons and strongly opposed American interference. Reed's reports were collected and published as this book.
