Legends of the Creation of the Bai Kingdom is a mythological work about the origin of the Bai people in the ancient Dali area.
The book is mainly about the creation of the Bai Kingdom, with strong religious characteristics. It consists of two parts. Th e fi rst part is about the origin of the Bai Kingdom, and the second part is made up of eighteen legendary stories about how Avalokitesvara helped the two ruling families in Dali-the Meng and the Duan to rule the kingdom.
