★ The classics selected for the set are mainly myths and epics of various ethnic groups, such as Zhaoshutun, Old Folk Songs of the Dai & the Naxi, Manau Jaiwa, PamiChali, Zhisa Jiabu, Chamu, Meige and The Gold Flute, etc.

Meige is not only called a masterpiece of the Yi people, containing folk songs, dances, and oral folk literature, but also the most signifi cant creation epic of the Yi ethnic group. Honored as the prime genealogy and the encyclopedia of the Yi people, it covers a wide range of content in the creation of the world and creatures, marriage and love songs, funerals, and other parts, which reflect the long history and colorful life of the Yi people.
Meige serves as a mirror of the simple world outlook and imaginative view of the universe, which were brought forth by the Yi people’s ancestors in ancient times. It introduces the evolution and development of the Yi people’s production and life, elaborates on production, love, marriage, and funerals, and expounds the countless ties between the Yi people and other ethnic groups in economy, culture and life.
