Description

The whole book of Manau Jaiwa is composed of tens of thousands of lines about the deities creating living things, N-gon Du creating the Sky and the Earth, the flood era, N-gon Du marrying the dragon daughter, the division of the family clans and branches as well as the vivid description of human production and life. It is divided into seven parts: Prologue;Formation of the Sky and the Earth; Leveling the Sky and the Earth; The Flood; N-gon Du Getting Married; The Origin of the Manau Festival; Life on the Earth.
The epic Manau Jaiwa is a masterpiece of Jingpo ethnic literature, which combines mythology, legend and poetry very well. It is not only a living monumental history of the Jingpo people but also a great literary masterpiece of folk literature that has been recited and passed on from generation to generation.
In May 2011, Manau Jaiwa was included in the list of the third collection of The National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of China.
