Review
The rural countryside in Wheat's world is no longer a wartime utopia à la Hayao Miyazaki, but rather a 'Stardew Valley' for contemporary urbanites—adults and children alike—where, under the weight of daily life, they can be themselves, catch their breath, freely explore, and discover the magical glimmers hidden in ordinary living.

Feature
★ The picture books tell the story of a mysterious and vibrant rural world, celebrating the beauty of nature. Each volume introduces a mysterious "new friend"—magical creatures, spirits, and deities drawn from traditional Chinese classics and folklore—offering a magical and healing journey reminiscent of My Neighbor Totoro.
★ At the intersection of legend and reality, each volume focuses on a core theme of growing up: socializing, respect, emotions, and making choices.
★ Each picture book concludes with "Spirit Profiles" of the creatures, enriching their images and personalities.
The series consists of four books:
Wheat's Field 1: The Talking Stone (Socializing, meeting new friends) — Wheat's family moves to the countryside, and the pedestal stone at their new home can actually talk?
Wheat's Field 2: The Mysterious Old Dog (Respect, not judging by appearances) — A smelly stray dog turns out to be the silent guardian of the entire mountain?
Wheat's Field 3: The Hairy Orchard Adventure (Emotions) — The little saplings in the Hairy Orchard have caught "the blues"—how can they be cheered up?
Wheat's Field 4: Master Frog Monk, the Panacea (Making choices) — A strange frog monk claims he can cure Wheat's toothache, but the price is turning into a frog?
