Description

A celebration of the undimmable genius of Jane Austen’s work to help us to understand some of the processes of learning a foreign language through literary texts.
Dr Wolf asks why Jane Austen’s work makes so many of us want to appoint her as our guide and advisor and why she may ultimately help us to understand the processes of learning a language through the themes of simplicity, nature, pleasure, sobriety, getting it wrong and religion.

This book is for teachers and learners of English as a foreign language embarking on the perilous, and often vexed, journey of teaching/learning it through literature.
