Feature

★A tender, lyrical portrait of a man caught between duty and dream, haunted by what was lost and what might still be found.

Description

Written in a style reminiscent of Claire Keegan, John McGahern, and Colm Toibin, The Light at Evening is a tender, lyrical portrait of a man caught between duty and dream, haunted by what was lost and what might still be found.
In a quiet corner of rural Ireland, Ciarán drifts through the twilight of his days―part-time teacher, failed poet, grieving husband, dutiful son. His wife Joan faces cancer with quiet defiance. His mother, slipping into age and confusion, depends on him more each week.

As seasons shift and the land holds its silence, Ciarán turns inward―towards memory, regret, and the elusive rhythm of meaning. He walks the same roads his father once worked, watches the birds scatter over fallow fields, and writes a poem he may never show. But in the hush between dusk and night, something stirs: not redemption, perhaps, but something close.
