Review

“Federico's book has, among others, two great merits: the first is demonstrating that one can joke with rigor, remaining serious without being solemn; the second is helping us discover that complexity, in science and in life, is not something to flee from in fear, seeking refuge in trivializations. Complexity must be embraced and explored—to make more conscious and, hopefully, better decisions.”
– Luca Perri (Astrophysicist and science communicator)

Feature

★From relativity to quantum physics, through games, science fiction, and superheroes, all the way to climate change. In five entertaining lessons, Federico Benuzzi answers all our "whys."

Description

It's true, we're surrounded by influencer scientists, popularizers and science books are proliferating: was it really necessary to talk about physics once again? Yes! First, there's a need for a style of popularization that is light yet rigorous, offering a global, complete, and coherent vision of the subject. But above all, physics, its laws, and its language—alongside all sciences—are indispensable tools for being informed citizens today.

This book is a journey through five thematic areas: everyday physics, the physics of games, physicists' physics, the physics of the fantastic, and climate physics. Each with five mini-lessons that take us from an intimate understanding of the most elementary physical quantities, through the wonders of modern physics, to confronting the challenge of the climate emergency.
