This story follows first-grade students who are still awkward and clumsy around one another, who pull together and learn to share after a small incident. Through Suji’s encounter with the elephant and her classmates, not only these first graders but any child about to embark on something new will find strength and courage.

Suji has never been apart from her elephant, her best friend. On her first day of school, she secretly snuck the elephant into class without telling her mother. Unfortunately, the elephant got wedged tight in the classroom doorway. Panicked and helpless, Suji burst into tears. Her classmates and teacher all pitched in and pushed with all their might, yet the elephant would not budge an inch. Will the elephant finally squeeze free from the door and get inside the classroom? And will Suji make it through her very first day of school smoothly?
