Review

[Publisher’s Review]
“I want to scare people, not be cruel!”
The house ghost decides to team up with the mantis to frighten humans. However, he notices something strange about the mantis. It turns out the mantis only goes after the weakest-looking humans!
“Just eating people is boring—I also want to play with them.” Hearing this, the house ghost thinks, “So this is what terror feels like!” He even finds the mantis rather cool.
But when he sees the mantis using brutal methods to replenish its strength, his whole outlook changes. The house ghost wants to scare people—he doesn’t want to be cruel!
As the mantis’s wicked deeds are gradually exposed, countless monsters find themselves in danger, and the miscellaneous ghosts resolve to cross the sea and head for the mantis’s castle.
What secrets will the miscellaneous ghosts uncover within the mantis’s fortress? And can the house ghost defeat the seemingly all‑powerful mantis?
Let’s dive into the second adventure of the miscellaneous ghosts in *My Haunted House 2: Monsters Are Coming*—a story that’s even more thrilling and entertaining!

Feature

★ A fantasy series for elementary school students, designed to inspire children’s growth. The stories are free of horror or suspense, using amusing tales about ghosts and monsters to explore themes of self-acceptance, friendship, and courage—perfect for young readers in the primary school years.

This series is planned to comprise 10 volumes; the first two have already been published:
Volume 1: “I Want to Scare Humans”
Volume 2: “The Monsters’ Visit”

Description

The strong have arrived!
“Monster vs. Evil Spirit”—who will emerge victorious in the end?
“I hear you’re the most terrifying ghosts in the world?”
One day, these creatures came seeking out the little sprites! Their true identities were monsters.
It’s said these monsters are “foreign spirits,” utterly unlike the sprites of Korea.
There’s the “Mantis,” with a scorpion’s tail, a human face, and a lion’s body; the “Pumpkin,” a symbol of Halloween, its gourd‑shaped visage floating in midair, radiating an orange glow; and the wandering “Hong Kong Granny,” sporting the face of both a cat and an elderly woman.
At the sight of these monsters’ rugged, bizarre, and uncanny forms, the little sprites were instantly struck with fear. After all,
they might possess some rare power to match their appearance! Yet soon enough, they, too, began to puff themselves up like proper little sprites.

What will come of the encounter between monsters and sprites? Can their battle even produce a clear winner?
“I know a way to make you truly fearsome—truly famous…”
These monsters paid a visit to the little sprites because certain rumors had even reached across the sea. But those tales were rather peculiar. It was said that
the four of them—Jipgwi, Lugwi, Mudugwi, and Hwagwi—were supremely terrifying beings who had struck some kind of bargain with the gods!
“We want to become monsters as renowned as you!” Upon hearing this request, Jipgwi broke into a grin. He had long dreamed of becoming the world’s most fearsome ghost. Strutting forward with great pride, he acted as though the rumors were true, even boasting, “I am the most terrifying of all ghosts.” However, it wasn’t long before those stories were exposed. Disappointed upon learning the truth, the monsters turned and left—but strangely, only one among them showed interest in Jipgwi: Manti. “Indeed, I know a way to become exceedingly fearsome and truly famous, but…” he added, “it requires eliminating others!”
