Description

Sun Tzu's The Art of War is a classic work on the art of war written by the ancient Chinese militarist Sun Wu, known as the “sacred text of military science”, with a history of more than 2,500 years. This book is a modern interpretation of the commentary written by Spanish Lieutenant General Francisco José Gan Pampols, which aims to help readers better understand his strategic thinking and its application in modern society.

The commentaries are not only based on his deep understanding of strategy, management and leadership, but also contain fascinating references to movies, literature, mythology and philosophy. This will enable us to see this classic work on politics, conflict and power in a new light, one that is relevant to our times.

Author

Francisco José Gan Pampols is a lieutenant general in the Spanish Army on reserve duty and former head of the Armed Forces Intelligence Centre. Recognised for his contribution to the modernisation of the Spanish Army, he has also stood out for his leadership in international peacekeeping missions in complex scenarios such as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Afghanistan. His experience combines a solid strategic capacity with a focus on efficient management and conflict resolution.
In 2024, the retired lieutenant general has been appointed Vice President of the Valencian Government for Economic and Social Recovery, assuming responsibility for coordinating reconstruction efforts following the devastating DANA that affected the region on 29 October. In this new role, he applies his experience in planning and leadership to design sustainable solutions that benefit the most affected communities.
