Description

Wonderful gardens, palaces, castles, parks full of trees, shadows, fountains, little lakes: En plein air is a journey through the most enchanting historical gardens of Trentino, northern Italy. With text by Giulia Mirandola, a fine picture books specialist, and images by Andrea Serio, here at his debut.

Author

Giulia Mirandola has a degree in Conservation of Cultural Heritage. She worked with Ubulibri, Zanichelli, Hamelin Associazione Culturale. She curated Catalogone Topipittori since its first issue. In 2012 she published her contributions in Ad occhi aperti. L'albo illustrato (Donzelli) focusing on world-less and coloring books. Her research into picture books is mainly directed to word-less books and books for very little children. She is involved in formation programs for reading picture books, both for children and adults. She collaborates with libraries, schools, associations, bookshops, publishers, festivals, foundations, museums, universities, cultural institutions, in Italy and abroad. In 2006 she founded the cultural project Il Masetto.

Andrea Serio was born in Carrara in 1973. He studied illustration at IED in Turin. He creates comics and illustrations for music, magazines and advertising. In 2012 his graphic novel Nausicaa, L'altra Odissea (texts by Bepi Vigna) was published in Italy and France, which inspired an animation movie presented at Venice's Festival del Cinema. His works were exhibited at Fiera del libro di Torino, Festival internazionale Babel di Atene, TorinoComics, Festival di musica e avanguardie artistiche Lugocontemporanea. With writer Michele Montanari he keeps Nerobalena blog. Since 2013 he teaches at Scuola Internazionale di Comics.
