Description

It’s the colour of the light and the sun, it’s like gold, warm, rich and bright, the colour children like the most. This volume of PiPPo Colour series is dedicated to yellow. Valentina Zucchi and Sylvie Bello, at her debut, will make children discover those artworks where yellow stands out as utmost protagonist, through artists like Simone Martini, Artemisia Gentileschi, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Turner, Matisse and other masters.

Author

Valentina Zucchi was born in 1977 in Biella, Piedmont. She first graduated in History of Modern Art and then in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and has been working on the relation between museums and visitors ever since. She created a department for education at Santa Maria della Scala, in Siena, and contributed to the development of an art lab at Palazzo delle Esposizioni and Scuderie del Quirinale, in Rome. Since 2004 she lives in Florence where she devotes herself to enhance the collection of Musei Civici Fiorentini, that is where this series of books about colours come from.

Sylvie Bello is a French illustrator born in Besançon in 1980. Her background is textile design but she's rather passionate about drawing and illustration. After her education, she moved to Italy where she started her career with International exhibitions such as Ilustrarte in Lisbon or I colori del Sacro in Padua. In 2015 she was awarded Premio della Critica at Tapirulan contest. She often works with monotype but she likes graphite and traditional handmade techniques like engraving and silk-screen printing. She thinks doing picture books can change the world. She collaborates with Else edizioni, America Mag, Revue XXI, Rai Educational, The Parisianer.
