Author
A renowned Indian poet, writer, social activist and philosopher, Tagore's poetry is rich in profound philosophical insights and holds an epic status in India. His representative works include "Gitanjali", "Stray Birds", "The Gardener" and "The Crescent Moon". In 1913, he became the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature with "Gitanjali".
Translator-Bai Kaiyuan
A Bengali translator and a member of the Chinese Writers' Association. He studied Bengali at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh from 1965 to 1969. In 1969, he joined the Bengali Department of China Radio International as a translator and announcer. In 2012, he was awarded the title of "Senior Translator". As one of the chief editors of "The Complete Works of Tagore", he has translated over 80,000 lines of Tagore's poetry.
Translator-Zheng Zhenduo
A modern Chinese writer, poet, scholar and translator. His major works include "A Survey of Chinese Literature" and "Illustrated History of Chinese Literature". His translations include "The Crescent Moon" and "Stray Birds". Shi Zhen, an expert in Indian literature in China, pointed out: "It can be said that the earliest and most systematic introduction and study of Tagore in China was done by Mr. Xidi (Zheng Zhenduo's pen name)."
