Description
It is possible to learn to manage success and failure, to be compassionate with the traces left by the past or to be grateful for our present and to set realistic but exciting goals. It is possible to learn to connect emotionally or to trust oneself and others.
The aim of this book is to provide theoretical and practical tools to achieve high self-esteem and confidence in all areas of life -family, work, social-, to initiate a change from within that reinvents us as the best version of ourselves, knowing that from now on we can transform our life and enjoy it fully without fear or insecurity.
Life is a path full of stumbling blocks. To a large extent it is about falling and getting up again and again, and unfortunately we insist on thinking that a fall is a failure capable of sinking us when, in reality, every fall is a learning opportunity, an excuse to look inside ourselves and begin to change what is not working.
We can start by differentiating between self-esteem, self-confidence and self-concept or by exploring our childhood and understanding why we have some anchored fears that depend on the attachment style we developed as children. The good news is that we are not condemned to repeat history: we can reinvent ourselves. To do so, we have to learn to nurture our self-esteem, to practice self-compassion, to welcome all emotions, whether positive or negative, and to give them meaning.
We have it in our power to transform ourselves by learning to escape from limiting beliefs, to treat ourselves with kindness, to take care of ourselves by practising mindfulness, among many other strategies and exercises to achieve our maximum potential.
Author
However, prior to her clinical practice, she worked in other fields of psychology, such as risk groups, gypsy population, immigrants and disability. And, above all, her experience as a volunteer in Honduras, where she participated in a family support project in a marginal colony, marked a before and after in her history, as it determined her interest in focusing on small things and small changes, instead of trying to cover a lot to change everything. He decided to invest his energy and commitment to gain in quality and not in quantity, a philosophy of life that accompanied him then and continues today.
