Description
This book guides parents and educators from birth, explaining step by step how to establish a secure attachment, which are the best sensory and psychomotor stimuli, how to teach children to regulate themselves emotionally, how to establish healthy social interactions, how to help them discover their own identity by reinforcing their self-esteem and how to deal with extraordinary situations that require a specific adaptive process, such as death, the arrival of a sibling or separation from parents.
All of this with a single goal: to know that this little person will grow up feeling secure, will mature in the knowledge that he or she is valuable and will become a balanced and happy adult.
We must begin by breaking the myths that have been maintained for generations without any basis: ‘love is enough’, ‘you have to be the perfect parent’, ‘you have to let him cry’, ‘without punishment it doesn't work’, etc., to focus on a new educational style that respects the evolution of children, which places the adult as a figure of trust who establishes positive discipline, guiding the child in his or her formative process.
From the first basic care at birth, which not only focuses on physiological needs, but also raises the beginning of cognitive and motor needs, sensory and language development, as well as social and psychological needs, it moves on to a study of what is meant by a secure attachment in which the child trusts that his or her emotional needs will be met. Little by little, each chapter guides us theoretically and also with a practical part in which dynamics and games are proposed to strengthen this bond, encourage sensory and motor stimulation, teach them to regulate themselves emotionally, encourage curiosity, exploration, social skills, responsibility, self-esteem and autonomy.
Author
She is a specialist in trauma, dissociation and attachment, and is trained in EMDR for both adults and children. She is also trained in crisis intervention and psychological first aid, as well as in personality disorders and bereavement. She has fulfilled her vocation to accompany others in their life and emotional processes through the opportunity to help people heal unresolved wounds with her work at the Sagasta Psychology Clinic in Murcia. Although her main work is with the adult population, she loves working with children, something she considers a source of professional and personal enrichment since, in her own words, ‘we have all, at some point, been children’.
