Feature
★Groundbreaking scientists are sometimes "just a fool," and this book reveals the lesser-known side of great scientists such as Democritus, Newton, Darwin, Guglielmo Marconi, Tesla, and Einstein!
★Scientists are both geniuses and ordinary human beings, not high and unreachable. Italy's most popular science communicator, "X with a Dark Beard," takes readers on a unique journey through comedy, satire, and absurdity to get closer to these interesting people, see their vivid and three-dimensional images, and experience their ideas at the same time.
Description
Few people know about the rubbish said by Democritus, the crazy alchemical practices of Newton, how many ideas that sociopath Tesla got fooled with, or how many mistakes even Einstein made.
Those we call geniuses are nothing more than passionate human beings, tireless seekers of knowledge, with an unimaginable amount of mistakes behind them. Simple human beings, sometimes lucky, sometimes profiteering, sometimes “just plain dumb,” all with shocking skeletons in their closets.
Barbascura X does not get on his high horse, but with comedy, sarcasm and irreverence, takes you on a mocking journey through the ideas of six of history's great minds.
Author
He is a chemist, science popularizer, theater performer, writer, author, musician and video-maker. With a degree in organic chemistry and a doctorate in green chemistry and production of materials from renewable sources, he has worked in leading laboratories throughout Europe. He has become famous on the web for the column Science Ugly, a series of parodic and irreverent pseudo-documentaries in which the lesser-known and shocking aspects of the natural sciences are told. He tours Italy with lectures and shows, straddling science popularization and stand-up comedy, spanning biology, ecology and the history of science. Because of his unusual way of dealing with these topics, he has been called the punk of science popularization.
