Feature

★This book is a guide that orients us to the discovery of human neurodiversity and its complexity.

Description

Every human being has a brain, but not all brains are the same. Yet few people have a realistic idea of the infinite variability of human neuropsychology, and how much this variability, if not properly considered, can foster misunderstanding, suffering, and marginalization. The biomedical, cognitive and psychological sciences, the humanities and the social sciences have developed different approaches to describing and dealing with this diversity. Outside of clinics and academies, social movements born out of the communities involved have sometimes employed, sometimes reinterpreted, and sometimes radically rejected each of these approaches. Eleonora Marocchini explores all these perspectives, trying to bring some order and hold together both the views of the scientific communities and the internal discussions within the affected communities.

Author

Eleonora Marocchini
Eleonora Marocchini, psycholinguist and PhD in Psychology and Cognitive Science, independent researcher and science communicator under the name of @narraction, has built her training straddling the humanities and cognitive neuroscience, to land in the social sciences. She works mainly on neurodiversity, empathy and communication, with an open eye to accessibility, diversity and inclusion, trying to reconcile the rigor of scientific research with instances and reflections of communities.
