Feature

★ Lotte Bräuning: previously exhibiting on the Bologna Children’s Bookfair and nominee for the SERAFINA illustration Prize 2019.
★ An intergenerational story, empathically told by Jochen Weeber, author of numerous radio plays and books both for children and adults.

Description

Anni loves her grandpa more than anything and she is looking forward to celebrating her birthday with him - with a present, of course.
But when grandpa walks in the door, he doesn't have anything with him. Instead, they have to walk to the present. So they stroll along the fields, alongside the brook, across the meadow and over a hill. In the meanwhile, Anni’s curiosity grows bigger and bigger. What only could it be? Something small with many curlicues? Or a huge thud with jumble? Or some spotted wobble-dee-bobble with a huge portion of pluff? As they come to a clearing, there it is. It is as tall as Anni and has a big red bow around it:
It’s an apple tree which Grandpa had planted the day Anni was born. From that day on, she will come to see it once in a while, water it, sit in it, take care of it and she will never forget her beloved Grandfather.
