Description
The harmless hoverfly, for example, pretends to be a dangerous wasp and the leafy seadragon disguises itself as a torn leaf.
In the case of mimesis , animals are camouflaged extremely well and can hardly be distinguished from their surroundings, like a chameleon or the octopus.
There are even plants that look like animals, the woodcock orchid’s blossom, for example, looks like a female bee and attracts male longhorn bees which helps the orchid to get pollinated.
This fascinating non-fiction picture book introduces beings all over the world that trick, deceive and camouflage.
