Description
The author combines several folk stories from oral tradition, such as the one about the rabbit and the opossum. There is some invented rivalry between them, which helps to narrate what happens at night, behind the cornfield: the adventures of an industrious rabbit and an audacious opossum, who come and go through the field causing the moon to change its appearance. This silent picture book was inspired by Mesoamerica’s complex and tremendous ideology.
Author
David Daniel Álvarez studied design at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA). His work as an illustrator has received several international awards, such as the Illustration Award at the Latin American Designer Encounter by the University of Palermo, and he obtained second place in the Children’s Book Illustrators’ Catalogue in Mexico City in 2011. In 2012, he was selected for the International Biennial of Children’s Book Illustration “Ilustrarte”. He won the International Compostela Prize for Picture Books for the book Flock, and was selected for the White Ravens Catalogue.
