Description

Vienna, 1903. A gruesome murder takes place one night at the Naschmarkt, Vienna’s biggest Viktualienmarkt. The victim: the young Countess Hermine von Hainisch-Hinterberg, orphan from a rich family, who lived in the city centre with her aunt and her cousin.
The „Naschmarkt Murder“ quickly catches the attention of the media and especially journalist Leo Goldblatt is putting pressure on the police. But inspector Joseph Maria Nechyba of the Imperial-Royal Police Administration is not particularly impressed. The stout hedonist prefers to devote himself to his physical well-being and his new beloved, the cook Anna Litzelsberger. But then there’s another murder at the Naschmarkt …

Author

Gerhard Loiblesberger was born in Vienna in 1957. In 2009 he started the „Naschmarkt Murders“, a series of historical crime novels starring the corpulent inspector Joseph Maria Nechyba. He also edited the anthology „Vienna’s Soul“, published in summer 2014. You can see Gerhard Loibelberger live at one of his many readings or playing concerts with the jazz and improvisation project Club Dada and his underground band „Der dritte Mann“.
