The little walrus’s adventures appeared some years ago in two books; now they are joined together in one picture book in a larger format. In the first story we meet a walrus who does not want to cut his nails, but precisely because of this gets a job as a double bass player in a polar orchestra. In the second story he has trouble with his eyesight. And although the idea of a walrus wearing glasses is rather unusual, everything turns out well.

Peter Svetina (1970) is an associate professor for Slavic literature at the Institute for Slavic languages, Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt, Austria. He writes for children, young adults and adults, but his work often crosses the borders between different target audiences and can be read as crossover literature. His books for children and youth have been translated into English, German, Spanish, Korean, Polish, Latvian, Estonian, and Lithuanian. Svetina’s works often play with occurrences and images from his everyday life. His books have received some of the most prestigious national and international awards.
