Description

Magic is productivity!

A modern engineer named Cheng Yan wakes up inside the body of Roland Wimbledon, the fourth prince of the medieval kingdom of Graycastle. What greets him is a witch trial about to be carried out, in a land where witches are seen as the source of disaster and burned at the stake. Roland stops the execution and brings the hunted witches, one by one, back to his frontier domain.

He soon discovers that the witches' "magic" is not a miracle but a force that can be understood and used: one can command a fierce green flame, one can walk through the mist, one can heal wounds. And so a bold idea is born, to turn these powers, through science and industry, into steam, cannons, railways and power grids, until the poorest domain grows, step by step, into the strongest industrial kingdom on the continent.

As more witches gather, an ensemble of distinct personalities takes shape: the diligent Anna, the secretive Nightingale, the timid Nana, the talkative Lightning, the vengeful Echo, the gifted Tilly. They are no longer hunted "outsiders" but the builders of a new world.

Meanwhile, with every "Month of the Demons," monsters pour out from the rifts of the world; and every few centuries, civilization is overturned in a round of the "War of Divine Will." What Roland must face is not only a series of intrigues and battles, but this: between magic and steel, can humanity find a new way to live?

The book unfolds through a compound structure of "transmigration + farming-and-construction + a witches' ensemble": from the first brick and the first furnace, to fleets, railways and a power system, and on to continent-spanning war and a choice about civilization. The comic has been fully completed at 697 chapters.
