Adwin de Kluyver is a writer, historian, film‑festival organiser and polar traveller. He has carried out historical research on expeditions and voyages of discovery, exploring why some polar explorers became heroes while others — including himself — did not. He has previously written adult‑oriented books about the North Pole, the South Pole and islands. These titles received favourable reviews, earned literary‑award nominations and have been translated abroad. *Aouda en Passepartout* is his first youth novel. Adwin lives and works in Leeuwarden (inside an old prison), and sometimes stays on the island of Vlieland.
