Feature

★ The author refuses to be a "late-stage senior" (a Japanese term for people 75 and over) and instead lives as a "radiant senior"—the older you get, the more interesting life becomes, through your 50s, 60s, and 70s, each decade more wonderful than the last.
★ One simple "oh well" lightens the load, and the way forward appears on its own. The book is full of lines that ease the mind, teaching you to enjoy the second half of life with ease.
★ Around three lenses—"kindly meddling," "it's never too late to start," and "things will work out"—it passes on a way of living that cherishes the present and values connection with others.
★ The author, Takahashi Megumi, is 84. Having lived through losing her father, divorce, and starting a business in middle age, she still gives talks nationwide past 80 and speaks more than 1,600 times a day—proof that curiosity and action make life more interesting.

Description

In an age of hundred-year lifespans, people face physical decline, loneliness, and many other changes. To live each day happily, a mindset that lightens the heart becomes an important support.
After turning 60, more and more people lose their spirit and their hope for the future. This book shares insights for living a happy old age.
Rather than dwelling on what is lost with age, it re-examines "the joys that can only be felt right now." Around lenses such as "kindly meddling" that values connection with others, the positive mindset of "it's never too late to start," and the flexible heart that says "things will work out," it passes on a way of living that fully enjoys the second half of life.
Keep your curiosity and keep acting, and life becomes more interesting. Cherish the joys that only come with age. This is a warm, positive essay collection for everyone who wants to fully enjoy the second half of life.
