Description

“Instantly, a beautiful white cat, as pure as the whitest cloud, with golden eyes and rosy ears, lay down on my bandaged leg. I must confess—and with pride—that it was love at first sight; more than just getting to know each other, we recognized each other.”

It has been five years since Émile passed away. His passing was heartbreaking for Ramiro Calle, who has often said: “The one who loves me most in this world is my cat Émile, because he doesn’t judge me.” During the eleven years and three months they shared, they were inseparable.

Émile was patient, good-natured, affectionate, and radiated an energy of humility, acceptance, and tenderness. He knew neither rancor nor resentment. Ramiro Calle’s love and respect for animals were instilled in him by his mother. And not only have they endured, but they have continued to grow over the years.

This volume, in addition to being a tribute to his beloved Émile, contains a beautiful collection of short stories. In them, animals (cats, foxes, mongooses…) take center stage and become metaphors rich with meaning. Each story is accompanied by a reflection from the author, offering the reader useful life lessons.
