A Year Through Europe
Traveling and being free—that's Anna and Patrick Hemminger's dream. Away from the daily grind and cafeteria food. The journalists sell their house and take their three kids on the trip of a lifetime, traveling across Europe in search of good food. They want to show that you can learn more in Europe's kitchens than from all the textbooks put together. To do this, the family looks into numerous pots and eats from many plates, stands at the stove with top chefs, and goes out into the fields with farmers. The challenges along the way are considerable: homeschooling, working on the road, being together nonstop—this is a recipe for conflict. But in every country, the family meets wonderful people who share a bit of their wisdom with them. Because food connects people across all borders.

Anna and Patrick Hemminger love to eat well. As journalists, they enjoy conducting in-depth research in the kitchen, while traveling, and wherever food is produced. They have published several books about their experiences and run the successful blog and podcast Travel & Taste.
Anna Hemminger is an award-winning radio reporter for Bayerischer Rundfunk and ARD. She writes novels and tells her children stories she invents herself every day. Patrick Hemminger is a journalist and aspiring chef from Baden-Württemberg. He writes for the Süddeutsche Zeitung, among others, cooks and bakes bread, and shares his knowledge of cuisine and craftsmanship both online and offline. Anna and Patrick Hemminger live with their three children in the south of France and Germany—they can usually be found wherever the food tastes good.
