Description
Adrian H. Koerfer recounts a childhood and adolescence spent between great wealth and brutal emotional coldness. Growing up in the shadow of an absent father, cared for and raised by employees, and left alone by an overwhelmed mother, he is eventually sent away to the Odenwald Schoo —a place that turns out to be the scene of systematic abuse by teachers. It is only in adolescence that Adrian finds the strength to resist violence and silence. His life story ruthlessly exposes the mechanisms of familial repression and institutional power. A look back in anger that calls the present to account.
The past is not forgotten
Author
born in 1955, is an art historian and scholar of German literaturewho
spent many years in senior positions in publishing, including at Klett
and Suhrkamp. As an activist, he has been involved in protecting children and young people against sexual violence since 2010. For this commitment and his efforts to support the cultural scene in Hesse, Koerfer was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 2023. The artist and art collector lives in the Rhine-Main region.
