Description

Andrea is ready for a new journey: this time her destination is Sicily. While attending a performance at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse, the girl meets for the first time the great scientist of classical antiquity.
Archimedes takes her to discover the city’s landmarks that reflect his studies: the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, where, according to legend, his tomb is located; the statue dedicated to him holding a burning mirror; and the Tecnoparco with replicas of his war machines. Archimedes tells Andrea about his life and discoveries—from estimating pi to the volume of a sphere, from the principle of levers to the buoyancy of objects.

Author

Silvia Merialdo holds a degree in nuclear physics. After graduation, she gained research experience in the United Kingdom and Germany. Her passion for the world of books brought her back to Italy, where she now works as a physics textbook editor for Zanichelli. In her free time, she writes travel guides and reads hundreds of children's books with her son.
