It’s Andrea—a very curious young girl—who meets physicists, biologists, and mathematicians in the cities where they made their most important breakthroughs. In the first two volumes, Andrea takes us on walks with Galileo and Newton, right where these scientists left their mark, to hear all about their lives, discoveries, and inventions.

This series includes 6 titles:
In Switzerland with Einstein: Andrea Discovers Relativity
In Syracuse with Archimedes: Andrea Discovers Geometry
In Milan with Leonardo: Andrea Discovers Engineering
In Cambridge with Newton: Andrea Discovers Gravity
In Paris with Marie Curie: Andrea discovers radioactivity
In Pisa with Galileo: Andrea discovers the Universe

Description

What is a fresco? How does the lock system of the Navigli canals work? What did the designs of the first flying machines look like? A trip to Milan with her aunt becomes an opportunity for Andrea to meet one of humanity's greatest geniuses: Leonardo da Vinci.

Andrea travels to Milan with her aunt, who needs to discuss a project at the Aerospace Engineering department. The girl would love to follow her aunt into the university but ends up reluctantly visiting the Cenacolo, where Leonardo da Vinci’s famous fresco is preserved.
This is where her encounters with the great artist begin. He takes her around Milan to places where he left his mark: Sforza Castle, the Museum of Science and Technology, the Navigli canals, and the Ambrosiana Art Gallery.
Leonardo shares with Andrea his life and inventions—from flying machines and the study of fossils to his immortal paintings. Following Newton and Galileo, In Milan with Leonardo is a tribute to the great genius of the Italian Renaissance.
