Description

The first author’s guide to crafting a captivating novel and building well-balanced writing habits, based on the ageless wisdom and inspiration of the Bible.

How do you make your worldbuilding meaningful? What happens when you put three sisters-in-law into one arch? Why are the best characters always flawed?
How do stories keep us awake at night, make us hate and love passionately, or second-guess our lives?

When we look for inspiration in our storytelling, we can turn to many outside sources for guidance. But no source has inspired or captivated audiences around the world like the Bible. With its unforgettable characters, high-stakes conflicts, moral dilemmas, and divine truth, Scripture offers every writer a masterclass in storytelling—one that has captivated readers for centuries.

With weekly prompts that examine the insightful storytelling of narratives from Exodus to King David, novelist and writing coach Rachel Lavi shows how Scripture can sharpen your craft, inspire your imagination, and anchor your storytelling in eternal truths. Through carefully structured lessons and practical exercises, she helps writers build stronger storytelling habits, sharpen their voice, and gain deeper insight into how classic narrative structure, moral tension, and emotional stakes can turn good writing into great fiction.

Whether you’re outlining your first novel or refining your tenth, The Scripture’s Guide to Storytelling offers a full year of focused, skill-building practice—designed to make you a more intentional, consistent, and confident writer.

Author

Rachel Lavi
Rachel Lavi is an editor, translator, and author, and, unlike people who knew what they wanted to do in their lives when they were eight years old, Rachel has no idea what she wants to do when she grows up. She has worked with politicians, professors, doulas, divers, relationship experts, religious conservatives, and more.

After raising a cat, a dog, a parrot, five fish, and 28 hamsters, today Rachel focuses mainly on raising her family, alongside her husband, four children, and two grandchildren. When they take a break from taking up most of her attention, she writes about romance, religion, history, parenting, terrorism, social justice, and everything in between.
