Description

Nature is not only relaxing: it is healing.
By the psychotherapist who brought the forestry therapy in Italy, a scientific method to find again balance, energy and health, walking among the trees.

After years passed along with patients affected by ALS and a violent episode of emotional stress, psychotherapist Francesco Becheri made a simple and innovative discovery: immerse ourselves in nature is healing. Not in a metaphorical way, but in a real, cellular, measurable way. The heart slows down. Cortisol level lows. Neuronal connections strengthen. The immunity system activates.
From this experience Wellness in Nature comes to life, a book halfway between an essay and a guide to wellness, in which Becheri tells the genesis of “forestry therapy”, a new psychotherapeutic method validated by clinical tests, partnerships with the CNR and the University of Florence, and tested in over forty Italian green areas.
The forestry therapy is not a simple walk through trees. It is a valid, sensorial practice made following precise environmental criteria – biodiversity, climate, paths quality – to give back to the human being a deep and curative contact with nature, more and more denied by digital and urban daily life.
Becheri, with a clear and captivating style, leads us through medical histories, research data, personal memories and visionary intuitions, drawing a new geography of wellness, in a book useful to everyone who needs to find a centre, a breath, a direction. And maybe a sense.
