Description

Breanna wrote this story when she was 8 years old and wanted to fly.

Beautifully told and illustrated story of Breanna, who wants to be a superhero. She asks family and friends if she can become a superhero by wishing upon a shooting star. She tries but it doesn’t work. Breanna is finally happy with the idea of working hard and becoming a superhero doctor, lawyer, engineer or vet. But she still wants to fly!

Author

Breanna Humes was born in Canberra and grew up in Bunbury and Toowoomba. She is from the Noongar, Gunditjmara, Wiraderjiri and Jawoyn peoples. Breanna completed Y12 at Toowoomba State High School as the Indigenous Co-Captain of the school. She spent 5 years in the Air Force Cadets and in 2017 walked the Kokoda Trail with the 2 Wing Cadets. Breanna is studying Environment Sciences at the University of Southern Queensland. I Want to be a Superhero is her first book, which she wrote when she was 8 years old.

Ambelin Kwaymullina belongs to the Palyku people of the eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia. She is a writer, illustrator and law academic who works across a range of genres including YA, science fiction, verse and non-fiction.
