Foreword
In the dead of night, the dilapidated Golden Sail residential complex was shrouded in silence, devoid of any noise, and the streetlights were out, yet a small red dot on the rooftop of one of the buildings flickered conspicuously.
A girl of about fifteen or sixteen stood silently on the rooftop of that building, staring blankly at what lay below. Next to her was a thin man in his early twenties, coughing and smoking a cigarette, the cigarette's end flickering in the darkness.
The building was very old, and the rooftop was no exception, cluttered with old junk and trash. With the recent rain, these items, soaked with water, emitted a strange odor. Next to the clutter was an old table with a bottle of red wine on it, half gone, and two dirty glasses beside it, one still full of red wine, the other already empty.
After finishing his cigarette, the man walked over to the table, filled the empty glass, and drained it in one gulp.
"Who drinks red wine like that!" the girl complained.
The man, after finishing his drink, turned to stare intently at the girl and uttered a sentence, "Accompany me in death!"
The girl was taken aback, a hint of terror crossing her face as she began to slowly retreat, feeling around in her bag. She remembered she had it with her, but in this crucial moment, she couldn't find it.
A smile spread across the man's face, "I'm just joking with you."
He approached the girl, and she tensed up, every hair on her body standing on alert, but he said nothing and turned back to lean against the railing and smoke.
"You can go, I want to be alone for a while", the man said, waving his hand. The girl hastily turned to leave, and the man didn't look at her again, instead going back to the table to slowly sip his wine.
"You're really timid, I was just teasing you..." he muttered.
After finishing the entire bottle, he staggered down the stairs, when suddenly he slipped and fell from the staircase.
Crimson blood slowly trickled down the stairs.
Neither he nor she knew that the words "You can go..." would be the last thing he would say to her.
