Description

The original book "Alice’s Recipes" was first published in 1954. It is a memoir - style cookbook that records the life of the author Alice and her female partner Stein (a writer) in France, as well as the recipes they created for famous figures in music, art, and literature at the Paris salon, such as Picasso, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Juan Gris, Cocteau, and Sartre.

"Alice’s Culinary Palette: A Recipe Book in Watercolor" is a watercolor - based recipe book created by illustrator Douzi based on the original work. Douzi not only personally practiced and recreated the recipes from the original book but also presented the basic steps and personal insights of cooking in a simple and understandable way with operational illustrations. At the same time, the book meticulously documents the painting process and DIY creation. It provides readers with an opportunity to revisit a classic and offers a unique classic reading experience for those who love literature, painting and life.

Author

Douzi is a popular veteran illustrator, watercolor instructor, and freelance translator. She is currently pursuing an MFA in illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the United States. Her work "Man in the Mask" won the Cheltenham International Illustration Award in 2017. She has published "Good Times - A Fresh Watercolor Character Illustration Tutorial", the picture book "The Story of the Cat Colony", and translated "The Drawing Book" by British author Sarah Simblet. Douzi’s illustrations cover a wide range of topics with a free-spirited and versatile style. She works with a variety of media and has a particular fondness for watercolor. She continues to provide commercial illustrations for multiple books, magazines, and companies. She pursues the expression of a complex world through her artwork, touching people’s hearts.
