Description

Searching is a journey that requires us to step out. In the story, the protagonist embarks on a quest to find a way to “not be lonely”, venturing into the mountains, where he discovers many things. These may not be tangible items, but rather the small, the eternal, freedom, slowness, trust, tranquility, the singing of the mountains, and the waltz of the water—they are insights, moods, and an understanding of one’s own life circumstances. Although abstract, when you realize the insignificance of humans and the eternity of the universe, you can observe the world around you more closely; when you breathe in slowness and calm, you can slow down your hurried pace and restore the rhythm that life should have.

Being in the midst of natural beauty offers us more than just a sigh or a sentiment. If you are willing to give yourself more time and look inward, you may feel a greater harmony with the world and a closer connection to your inner self.

Through this search, the author leads readers into a vibrant pastoral world. Look closely at these pictures—golden trees, a ground covered in fallen leaves. What season is it? It can represent melancholy or the rest after a harvest. Regardless, it is time to start anew. Waiting at a rural bus stop, not knowing when the next bus will come, why not venture into the mountains and immediately discover new scenery?

Through the author’s brush, we encounter towering trees, colorful ponds, white clouds in the blue sky, a world of dandelions, rainy mountains, lush fields, and a sky full of colorful sunset clouds, a small town shrouded in moonlight... If you are willing to take a moment to pause in these images and let your imagination soar, time might just be like the hourglass the story’s protagonist holds, completing a short cycle, but your mood, with the change of colors in the pictures, experiences the ups and downs of a day from morning to night. Yes, colors can be moods, and they are like our life's journey—cyan, red, blue, green, each stage has its own beauty.

Everyone has their own “journey of searching”. This book is a key that opens the door to imagination. After reading this fantastical story, children will learn to face life’s setbacks correctly and understand that life is a collection of beauty.

It is a work completed by the author during their residency at the Wonju Land Culture Museum in South Korea. The illustrations in the book are inspired by the surroundings of the Land Culture Museum.
