Description

Have you ever gone blank? Have you felt that you were not able to use your full potential to learn? Perhaps you have seen your family, friends or students in the same situation. And, most likely, the solution has been “more”: more hours of study, more classes, more, more… But what if the answer was not “more” but “different”? What if we can improve our way of approaching learning to concentrate better, get more out of our attention span and avoid going blank?

In this book written with clarity and accessible prose, Juan Fernández explains in a simple and practical way the strategies that will help you learn better and learn the scientific bases that explain how and why these tools work, which will allow you to adapt them to different contexts. Your ability to concentrate will improve, you will maximize your learning, you will get more out of your memory and you will never, ever go blank again.

Author

Juan Fernández is a science teacher and PhD candidate in Educational Psychology. He began his professional career working as a researcher and disseminator in institutions such as the Polytechnic University and the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid. For more than ten years he has been a Secondary and High School teacher in Madrid. His scientific interest translated into a curiosity to find ways to improve as a teacher, and that is how he began to read books and articles on learning, memory, attention, motivation and everything that was related to the improvement of his students. He decided to start summarizing and translating the most significant content in a blog that has more than 18,000 monthly readers. To share what he has learned, he has written Educar en la modelado (Educating in complexity) (Plataforma, 2022) and is also co-author of La Evaluación formativa (Formative evaluation). He has participated as a materials developer and teacher trainer in foundations and centers in Spain and Latin America.
