Description
One in three people worldwide has an allergy, and generally, children are more susceptible. Since allergy symptoms are appearing at increasingly younger ages, often emerging during preschool years, it is very important to tell children early on what allergies are and how to respond when they notice certain symptoms. Young readers will learn about allergies through the perspective of the little girl, Alia. Using the genre of a scientific comic book, this book explains to children in an accessible and entertaining way what allergens are, why it’s important to be very careful when choosing food, medicine, and clothing, and why they need to pay close attention to their body’s reactions during the flowering periods of plants that can cause allergies, among other things. This book not only helps children understand more about allergies – we adults must admit that we also learned a lot of useful information from this comic book. It covers the causes and symptoms of allergies, and even includes a memo table at the end where children can write down foods, medicines, and other items that cause allergic reactions. Parents can also refer to the memo prepared by professionals specializing in allergy research, making them more adept at handling allergy symptoms whenever they appear.
