Mikhail Lukashevich
Journalist, writer, translator, literary critic, and also an electronic engineer.
Graduated in 2000 from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. As a writer, Mikhail Lukashevich is dedicated to creating stories and poetry for children and minimalist poetry for adults. As a translator, he translates from English, German, French, and Anglo-Scots. His main translations include poetry by late German Romantic poets (Börries von Münchhausen, Detlev von Liliencron, Joseph von Scheffel), the comic elegy “The Taming of the Shrewd” by Scottish poet William Tennant, and poetry by American classicist poets Ogden Nash, Francis Bret Harte, and Shel Silverstein. Contributed to Yevgeny Vitkovsky’s anthology of translated poetry “The Century of Translation”. He participated, together with Bakhtiyor Kenzhayev and Alexei Tsvetkov, Anastasia Strogina, in the “Poets and Multilingualism” channel of the poetry program “Sounding” on the “Culture” TV channel.
Mikhail Lukashevich often gives speeches at various festivals and conferences on issues of child development and education, children’s reading, and the cultivation of children’s creativity and entrepreneurial ability. His book “The Swan and the Seagull” was included in the “Best New Books for Children and Adolescents 2021” catalog compiled by experts from the Gaidar Library; his book “Crazy Little Birds” was shortlisted in September 2021 for the Chukovsky Prize “Best Poetry Collection for Children Aged 8-12”. In 2020, he co-published a series of children's encyclopedias “Incredible Creeping Creatures” with Lyudmila Khoreshko and Anna Simakina, dedicated to the most interesting representatives of various families and animal lineages. Co-authored the book “Sirens, Centaurs, Gorgons and Other Unknown Creatures of the Ancient World” in January 2022.
About the Illustrator
Daria Beklemisheva
Graduated from the Department of Painting Art of the Kuban State University. In 2023, Daria Beklemisheva won the Non-Fiction Image of the Book award for her illustrations in the book “Ten Incredible Snakes”. Daria Beklemisheva believes that children should receive aesthetic education and develop an appreciation for beautiful and textured things, including books. Daria Beklemisheva is skilled in using collage techniques, often using many organic materials in her work, and enjoys watercolor painting. She collaborates with many foreign companies to create book illustrations, packaging design, or logo design. Enjoys swimming and cycling.
About the Scientific Consultant
Natalia Anajeva
Professor at the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Ornithology and Herpetology, Chief Scientific Assistant. Member of the A.M. Nikolsky Herpetological Society and the European Herpetological Society, Honorary Member of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, Member of the Scientific Council of the ZIN RAS. Has published many scientific works in Russia and abroad. Scientific consultant for the “Reptile Fun Research Series”. She graduated from the Leningrad State University named after A.A. Zhdanov. Natalia Anajeva has also participated in field research in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Kazakhstan, Iran, Turkey, Mongolia, Vietnam, China, Australia, and Sri Lanka. Her main research areas are the morphology, ecology, systematics, phylogeny, biogeography, and speciation of amphibians and reptiles.
Igor Doronin
Senior Researcher at the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Nikelský Herpetological Society, Member of the Russian Geographical Society. Has published many scientific works in Russia and abroad. Served as scientific consultant for the “Reptile Fun Research Series”. Igor Doronin graduated from Stavropol State University. His main research focuses on the systematics, phylogeny, distribution, and biology of amphibians and reptiles in the Caucasus and adjacent regions, as well as the history of herpetology.
