Author

Iryna Taranenko
Founder of the creative agency Green Penguin and co-founder of the animation publishing house Books and Animation.
Taraenko dreamed of writing books since she was a child, but she eventually chose the advertising industry. In 2016, while serving as CEO of Green Penguin, she came up with the idea of creating high-quality, designed content about Ukraine, which was lacking in both domestic and foreign markets at the time. So she led the publication of the book "Ukrainian Travel Book", which contains 700 facts about historical figures, culture, traditions and nature. The book has been translated into English, German and French and has sold more than 30,000 copies. The project has won several awards, including the 2021 Effie Award, the Best Book Design Award 2018, the Behance Illustration and Illustrator Award, the Media Project of the Year Award, and the 2021 Ukrainian Creative Award.
In 2022, Iryna and her team launched the "Books and Animation" brand and launched 2 books, "Independent Travel Book" and "Indomitable Travel Book", which won the Book of the Year Award in the "Secondary School Literature" category. In addition to large-format books, in 2024 "Books & Animation" is launching a new series of children's mini-books and a new animated series in cooperation with a leading Ukrainian publishing house. It started with books for Kharkiv, Chernigov, Sumy, Zaporizhia, Nikolaev and Kiev and will continue to expand to smaller towns.
