Feature

★ A surprising look at the urban-rural debate.
★ Colour sheets and species index make the book an attractive gift and guide through urban nature.

Description

Peregrine falcons, wild boars, raccoons - many wild animals have discovered the urban habitat for themselves. In an environment of monotony, created by modern agriculture and forestry, cities have become islands of diversity. While city dwellers go out into »nature«, nature flees to the city. There, nature is now more diverse and less threatened than in the countryside, wherefoxes are shot and bees poisoned.

Josef H. Reichholf speaks plainly, dispels common myths and argues against the further densification of our cities and the demonisation of alien species. At the same time, he paints an almost loving picture of tawny owls, dormice & co. and thus opens our eyes to our fellow animal inhabitants.

Author

JOSEF H. REICHHOLF is renowned among a broad audience as an author of numerous non-fiction books, including several best-sellers. He taught Aquatic Ecology and Nature Conservation at the TU Munich for 30 years. What’s more, he ranks among the 40 most prominent scientists in Germany (Cierco-Ranking) and has received many awards.
