Description

Author

About the Author
Štěpánka Sekaninová spent her childhood near Kolín, in the Polabí lowlands region. Although she is a Bohemian at heart, fate carried her to the heart of Moravia. She is a graduate in Czech and History from the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University. While still a student, she started work at Czech Television in Brno, where as a reporter she travelled about the South Moravia region and got to know every part of it. She later switched from reporting to the production of light entertainment and children’s programmes for the Brno studio.
Štěpánka loves books and has always longed to write, so when her life’s journey presented her with the opportunity to work as a literary editor, she accepted it with alacrity.
And so she writes, surrounded by beautiful books, realizing a dream she’s had since childhood...

About the Illustrator
Kateřina Wagnerová Hikade works as an illustrator, graphic designer and workshop leader. Having graduated in scientific drawing and illustration from the Secondary School of Art and Design in Brno, since 2011 she has been a student at the Studio of Graphic Design 2 of Brno’s Faculty of Fine Arts. Her studies in the Studio of Paper and the Book of the same school were an important source of knowledge for Papíři, her Bachelor’s degree project, which was chosen as one of the best Graduation Projects of 2013. She completed her practical training in illustration, graphic design and book technology with B4U Publishing. She is illustrator of the book Flouk a Líla – dobrodružství z mrakodrapu/Flouk and Lila – Adventures from a Skyscraper (HOST Publishers). She has worked as a graphic designer, artist and leader of a programme in art education at the Bubec Studio of the sculptor Čestmír Suška. She is currently engaged in film education as she helps create an informal programme at the Cinema School of Brno’s Kino Art. Kateřina Hikadová has long-standing interests in illustration, graphic design, and art and film education.

Maroš Bělák is a free-form visual artist, Maroš Bělák works as a painter, draughtsman and illustrator. He graduated from the Drawing Studio of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. He was shortlisted for Slovakia’s 2017 VUB Painting of the Year award for a work which later became the property of the Moravian Gallery in Brno, bought for the Artotheque. He has taught for the architects’ group Artschool Brno. His work has appeared in joint and individual exhibitions.
