Description

Carl Haig is very angry. Someone vandalized his expensive logging machine last night, and now he can't cut down trees! My brother and I think it's a good thing that the machine is broken. We want to keep the forest intact. But Mom says that Carl Haig will fix the machine, and then there will be nothing to stop him from cutting down trees and selling the timber unless we find the giant golden beetle, a very rare little species. As according to every legal provision concerning endangered animals, logging is not allowed if the forest is home to rare animals like the giant golden beetle.
After Carl Haig called the police, the authorities suspected that the person who vandalized the logging machine was our mother, and the evidence was so solid that they arrested her.
But everything is not as it seems at first glance! Who is the villain, and who is the hero? Does the legendary giant golden beetle really exist?
