Mommies come in all shapes and sizes but that is not all, they come packed with all sorts of personalities too. The narrative of Mommies challenges the norm of reducing an independent, unique being to gender and just the title of a ‘Mom’, and explores beyond the conventional views of what motherhood should be.

Richa Jha delivers a strong statement through the purity of a child’s voice and forges a bond between all the vastly different mothers from across the globe, united by their love for their child. Priya Sebastian’s artwork reflects the depth of a simple narrative and manages to capture the diverse beauty of each and every figure of motherhood.

Author Biography

Richa Jha is a writer and an author of picture books for children, and the founder publisher of Pickle Yolk Books. Her books have won several prestigious awards in India and internationally, including the Crossword Book Award, Publishing Next Industry Awards, Neev Book Award, Parag Honour list, Comic Con Book Awards, The White Ravens and the South Asia Book Awards among others.

Priya Sebastian’s illustrations are known for their beauty, depth and power. The clarity of voice in her illustrations have a strong impact on the viewer and resonate in the mind long after. In Aug 2017, Priya was invited to make 3 illustrations for prize winning entries in The Commonwealth Writer’s blog, Adda, to remember 70 years of Partition. In May 2018, a six-page interview featuring her work appeared in POOL magazine, a publication dedicated to Indian creators. Priya Sebastian's first picture book, “Is It The Same For You?” illustrated by Priya Sebastian and published by Seagull Books was released in December 2019, a result of a workshop organized by Goethe Institut, Kolkata. In March 2020, Priya was invited to exhibit her illustrations at Bangalore International Centre for International Women's Day.
