Description

This work brings together the most remarkable stories of the famous master of the short story. Horror breaks out hand in hand with the supernatural in pieces such as The Black Cat, The Well and the Pendulum or The Premature Burial. The police genre is present thanks to the story that inaugurated it: The crimes of the rue Morgue. For his part, Hop-Frog distills acid humor from his central character, an irreverent jester who will take into his own hands a very particular revenge against the king and his ministers.

The edition is completed by a selection of poems in which dark romanticism weaves verses around recurring themes that obsessed Poe: the premature loss of the woman he loved, reality fading into the darkness of the nightmare, the afterlife or death. as an element that impacts on the intellect of those who know they are alive and, therefore, exposed to finitude.

David Plunkert's Dadaist-influenced collages work with the symbology of grotesque and mocking masks, skulls that attach their mortuary imprint to still beating bodies, eyes occupied by some form of darkness, which pay homage to both surrealism and the disturbing apparition of the sinister
