Description
This history comprises the details of a mutiny and atrocious carnage aboard the brig Grampus on her voyage to the South Seas in June 1827; with an account of the conquest by the survivors, their shipwreck, and the subsequent horrible sufferings caused by famine; his liberation by the British schooner Jane Guy; the brief cruise of this last ship through the Antarctic Ocean; her capture and the slaughter of her crew on some islands of the 84th parallel of South latitude, together with the incredible discoveries and adventures, still farther south, to which this distressing calamity gave rise. Luis Scafati illuminates with profound talent the delightful terrors of this novel, where all the obsessions of the great Edgar Allan Poe are encrypted.
