Description
Although Animal Farm was conceived as a devastating satire on the degeneration of the Soviet regime in the Stalin era, the universal nature of its message makes it a fundamental work for understanding the corruption engendered by absolute power. After being rejected by four publishers, finally published by Secker & Warburg in 1945, it was not known by the general public until well into the 1950s. Today, translated all over the world and with millions of copies sold, it has become a canonical work and a lucid literary legacy of one of the most far-sighted authors with the greatest social commitment of the 20th century.
This edition includes more than fifty illustrations, as well as preliminary sketches by award-winning British artist Ralph Steadman, who specializes in political and social satire. His remarkable work for this text amplifies and transcends the meanings of the fable, standing as one of the most original interpretations ever made. The translation into Spanish has been in charge of Marcial Souto.
